RE: Primary Domain Contoller (PDC)
Hi,
You may start looking with a stable distribution. You may choose RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, OpenBSD, and FreeBSD. Then SAMBA as our bridge from *nix to windows environment. Other authentication methods may use encryption and LDAP. For starters and with less budget I suggest using CentOS since it is build from RHEL source code minus the logo. From there you may select what type of PDC you want. This now depends on how large your organization is. If there are less that 250 users then I suggest using tbsam or if it is grater you may use LDAP integration with SAMBA. For RHEL based distribution you may try looking into PDC Configuration. It shows how to configure RHEL 3 based distribution but as I can see it is applicable to higher version with just a little tweak. If others prefer ubuntu you may try setting up SAMBA using tbsam back end as you PDC. Good luck... and please post back if there are issues you may encounter. |
